EKET YOUTHS PROTEST, DEMAND SACK OF POLICE COMMISSIONER

- SEEK PEACE IN AKHA.

Hundreds of youths in Eket LGA of Akwa Ibom State today, trooped out on the streets of Eket in a peaceful protest to secure peace in Akwa Ibom.

As one of the local governments in Akwa Ibom state which is contributing to the economy of the state and Nigeria at large, the people provoked to the streets, blocking ExxonMobil facilities in the area with coffin and placards with different inscriptions portraying their resolve to embrace peace.

According to the youths, their peaceful protest is to send serious signal across to the federal government and the Inspector  general of police to restore back peace in the state.

The protesters , including members of all the youth associations in the area , alleged that APC in Akwa Ibom State and the Federal Government failed to find a lasting solution to the siege in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly problem.

In a refined voice, the youths also call on the inspector general of police to immediately sack the State police commissioner, Mr. Musa Miko for aiding the illegal invasion of the state assembly by the APC's sacked five lawmakers, and urged the police force to focus on protecting the the life's and prosperity of the citizens than being partisan in carrying out their duties in the state and the area.

Area blocked includes: Mobil Housing apartment, Mobil Airstrip & other Locations of the multinational oil giant.

Some of the placards on display reads thus" Akpabio take your Warsaw  to Sambiza forest", Sack Musa Miko Now", Udom must complete Eight years" "don't change government by force with for election" , "we don't succumb to Warsaw marshals Intimidation",  "The people's might is mightier than the so-called federal might", "Our crude oil is the mainstay of the Nigerian economy" etc.

Speaking with press men during the protest  Comr. Daniel Essien; Chairman, Eket Senatorial District village youth Presidents Forum, said the youths will not relent in their efforts to partner with the Governor Udom Emmanuel led-administration in promoting peace and ensuring the state remains safer and secured for all.

"Akpabio and his allies cannot intimidate us with his Warsaw drum; we will resist every operations in ExxonMobil if the federal government continue in fueling crisis in our peaceful State" Essien said.

Efforts to reach the PPRO, DSP MacDon, proved abortive as his line rang without response.
