SUPERVISOR FOR ENVIRONMENT SET WASTE CONTROL MEASURES IN URUA NKA MARKET.

The supervisor for environment Eket LGA, Lady Esther Nta alongside the Local Government sanitation team, has setup control measures which will suggest effective ways of waste management and to rescue the environment in urua nka market.

The assessment revealed that Urua Nka market generates the highest quantity of waste in the city. Adding that open defecation, burning of waste and indiscriminate waste disposal constitutes the greater percentage of the environmental hazard in the market area.

In an interview with press men during the sanitation exercise with the supervisor, she made known that recommended solutions to salvage the issue includes; the use of waste disposal bins in the area, and waste managers from the market committee with strict Government policy on the waste disposal and sanction to offenders.

Furthermore, she thanked the Executive chairman of Eket LGA Hon. Frank Archibong for is effort to keep Eket clean. Adding that the council boss as given mandate for the sanitation exercise in the market environment to be carried out twice a month in the area.

She also thanked Gov. Udom Emmanuel for transforming the state. "For that, i want to follow his pursuit to return Eket LGA to its former glory," Nta said.

According to the supervisor, she affirmed that Hon. Frank Archibong as promised the relocation of market women from the road side into the temporary market, which always caused the market road to be congested by overflow of market users.

Nta, urged the people of Eket and the market users to join hands together with the government of the day to achieve a conducive selling environment in Urua Nka market and also keep Urua Nka clean.

Present at the sanitation exercise were; Lady Esther Nta,Supervisor for Environment, Mr Kingsley Umem,Supervisor for works & transport, Pastor Aniedi Usoro,Secretary Eket LGA, Mr Ubong Johnson Etukudo,Supervisor for Education, Mr Ekpo,Supervisor for Agriculture and the sanitation team.

She worked in Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation (AKBC) and was a darling to teeming listeners of radio where she held sway as a goddess of the airwaves.
