POLITICS: ONNA CHAPTER OF PDP, ONIONG EAST DRUMS SUPPORT FOR HON.(PRINCE) BASSEY WILLIE FOR THE FEDERAL HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE COMES 2019.

Majority of those whose opinions were sampled agreed that they have not been feeling the impact of democratic dividends for a long time, but in 2019, things will be different.

To this end, while politicians are making the rounds with marathon consultations and secret meetings, they have already weighed in potential candidates who are aspiring to the position, even as the Independent National Electoral commission has not officially declared it campaign open.

The Central Working Committee for Federal House of Representative Aspirant Hon.(Prince) Bassey Akpan Willie  consults the good people of Oniong East  Ward I in Onna LGA.

The official consultation which was made at the Oniong East Ward 1 people Democratic party office was awesome with overwhelming turn up of PDP members in the ward.

Wille, officially commenced dialogue with some leaders of the PDP in Onna Local Government Area, among which were women groups , youth organisations, artisans and others .

Addressing party executives and members in Oniong East, In Onna LGA, the former State House member said time has come for Eket Federal Constituency voters to get the right representation in the upper chamber of the legislative arm.

He stressed that Nigerians are now aware of the importance of quality representation , which he promised to offer if given the chance in the next election .

According to him, “ Having consulted widely, I considered myself as the best candidate to represent Eket Federal Constituency in 2019.”Willie also promised to restore dignity to Eket constituency politics if elected , adding that the calibers and personality of legislators , who represents the zone in the green chamber matters a lot .

But he said the big task before the electorate is to ensure that they collect their Permanent Voters Card ( PVCs ) , which according to him is the power they have to effect change of any government even at the federal level and urged the people to support Gov. Udom Emmanuel for second term. He added that it is the turn of Oniong East to produce the next Federal House of Representative member to represent Eket senatorial district .

He stressed, “The office of the legislature requires a distinguished personality not one that continually brings shame and reproach to a people or somebody that is disconnected with the needs of his constituency . ”

He said Oniong East has been seriously shortchanged and the area could no longer continue to be relegated . “We need quality representation and Eket Federal Constituency  people a must watch whom we send to green chamber to represent us in 2019 .

“Let me further tell you that as far as this contest is concerned , I have no rival. I know I am eminently qualified and positioned to emerge victorious by your support, endorsement and active role in the process ,” he said .

During his ward consultation, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Project Monitoring Obong (Barr) Akaninyene Idem admonished party faithfuls especially Chapter and Ward Officers to prevail on other political units in ONNA to allow Oniong East the House of Representatives position for sake of Equity, Justice and fairness as Hon Bassey Willie is qualified irrespective of the indices or parameter for assessment even as he confirmed that their support for the second term Agenda of Deacon Udom Emmanuel 2019 reelection is total but for equity, fairness and justice, Oniong East deserve an elective position.

The Chapter Chairman of PDP in Onna , Barr. Ubong Adiakpan in his speech canvassed for full and unrelenting support for the PDP in the next general election , saying that the present situation in the country seriously requires a change .

He added that Willie, came for official consultation with the PDP in the local government, where he is a bona - fide and active member, he ensure that a level playing field is provided for all to advance their political aspirations. ”

Furthermore, Adiakpan inform the delegates present that assessment and vote for Representatives should be within the purview of Competence, Capacity, Character and adequate  Legislative Experience for the task ahead. He also stated that the rebranded PDP is repositioned to uphold fairness and transparent electoral processes as there shan't be voting by compulsion.

Johnbull Akpan Sunday, the PDP party leader in Oniong East 1 gives his total support to the Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel and pledge others to do so. He also gave his support for the Federal House of Representative aspirant Hon. Willie adding that, " if others will not see need to vote for him, he will because he as witness Hon.Willie good governing in the past as a state house member.

The Coordinator Bassey Willie Support Network Eket Federal Constituency, Comdr Christian Ekpobia described Hon. Willie as a sure bet, accessible, and also believe he will develop the people of Onna and Eket federal constituency at large.

He added that Hon. Bassey Willie is most preferred for the position because he understand the system as a former state house member. According to Ekpobia, he say the group is to canvass support for Gov. Udom Emmanuel comes 2019 and Hon. Bassey Willie for the Federal House of Representative race.

Ekpobia in his speech, reminded the people of the reason everyone should sacrifice greed, selfishness and sentiments on the altar of sincerity in this election,  if effective and dividends- driven representation is truly the yearning of the people.

Also, speaking in the event was woman party leader of Awa ward III stated further that he knows Hon. Bassey Willie so well to be able to attest of his sincerity, and leadership qualities, confirming that he is Square peg in a square hole.

She promise to canvass support for the Federal House member in Onna and across saying in the time past he represented Onna people well, giving scholarship to Onna son's in Maritime Academic, and also delivered more than 5 projects in Onna which include the building of Motherless Babies Home in Onna LGA and other projects.

Hon Bassey Akpan Willie confirmed to all present that the fixed term of 4year is enough for him to legislatively harness resources and turn the economic fortune of Eket Federal constituency around.

The highpoint of the event was to canvass support for the Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel for his re-election and to highlight the good people of Onna that Hon. Bassey Willie is in the race of the 2019 Federal House of Representative for Eket Federal constituency.

The Supervisor for Education ONNA Executive Council, Hon Jephthah Sambo was unveiled as the ONNA Local Government Coordinator of Hon Bassey Willie House of Representatives Project 2019 tagged REDEMPTION TEAM 2019. Hon Jephtah was accompanied by Hon Enoto Philip and Hon Ekaette Kiddy.

According to the people of his ward “of all the contestants, Hon. Bassey Willie stands tall glaringly, his known antecedents in the political circle dwarfs every intention of this nascent politician who have announced their arrival with the first baptism in politics”

Unanimously, the people of Oniong East endorsed Gov. Udom Emmanuel for Akwa Ibom state Governor comes 2019 and Hon. Bassey Willie as their sole candidate for Eket Federal Constituency race in 2019.
