Hon. Frank Archibong, Eket council boss cutting the tape to commission the renovated Uda Iko Eket village council hall on Wednesday. He was assisted by the PDP chapter Chairman Obong Iwaad Emmanuel Mbong.
The council boss thanked Uda Iko Eket for appreciating the good work of the government, and also urged the people of Uda community to stand by the government so more development can come to their aid.
According to Hon. Frank Archiving, he urged the people of Uda Iko Eket to support the People Democratic Party (PDP) and should give their support to Gov. Udom Emmanuel reelection for his second term.
Frank, in his speech to the people of Uda Iko Eket made known that Udom Emmanuel is a God sent to the people of Akwa Ibom state. And will serve for 8 uninterrupted years as other senatorial district served, he described Udom Emmanuel as a governor with Christlike character and very close to God.
"There is no governor closer to God like Udom Emmanuel. He must serve for eight years. Udom Emmanuel will serve 8 uninterrupted years. Obong Victor Attah served for eight years. Chief Godswill Akpabio served for eight years and Udom Emmanuel will served for eight years." Frank said.
Furthermore, The Chairman Village Council, Obong Okon Udo James in his welcome remarks show delight for the fulfillment of the ALGON chairman's promise to the people of Uda Iko Eket.
In his word, he prayed that God almighty should give him and the people of Uda Iko Eket long life to live and continue to enjoy more of the chairman's benevolence still to come.
"Just like a marmaid from water we have seen a strange and gigantic edifice being delivered to us by you. Honourable, when you promise to renovate our village hall during your electionery campaign, we regarded it a mere talk that could only cause laughter. But today, without even reminding you, you fulfilled your promise even beyond our expectation," Jame said.
James, in his reading speech during the commissioning requested for more projects to be done in Uda Iko Eket community, like grading of existing streets within the village and to make them culvert to link Uda Iko Eket with Ikot Udota village respectively, and also creating of job opportunities for more youths in area.
A community leader, Apostle Awafia Akpekong in his speech also described Hon. Frank Archibong as a genuine leader and a politician with good heart for fulfilling his campaign promise of renovating the Town Hall within few months. He urged him to help facilitate more development programmes to the community.
The Village Head of Uda Iko Eket, Chief Monday Umaobot commended the chairman for coming to the peoples recuse. Saying, "the Town Hall was in bad shape during campaign for local government election, but today its a brand new to the people of Uda Iko Eket," Umaobot requested for drilling of bore hole, toilet facilities and chairs for the hall which was all granted by the Chairman.
Also at the commissioning, was defection of some members of the All Progressives Congress party (APC) led by Daniel Monday Michael former APC chieftaincy in the area announced their official defection from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party .
Michael, in his remarks said. "When we left the PDP to join the then-nascent coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC), we left in a quest for justice, equity and inclusion; the fundamental principles on which the APC was originally built but which it had deviated from. We were attracted to the APC by its promise of change. We fought hard along with others but today the party APC as proven to us that they have notting to offer us and they are lifeless that is why today we all defeated the PDP which we have seen progress in the party".
The Chapter Chairman of PDP in Eket, ObongIwaad Emman Mbong while receiving the defectors thanked them for taking the right decision to join a Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), promising them fair and equal treatment as the party is very large to accommodate all interest.
The event was witnessed by Councillor representing Ward 2 Central, Hon. Akan Tommey, Supervisor for works Hon Kingsley Umem, Supervisor for Youth, Ebitu Michael, Supervisor for Health, Charity Ikott, Supervisor for Environment, Esta Nta, SSA to the Chairman on Youth, Godwin Nduaesa, SSA on Protocol,Tommy Enodien, SA on Media Comr. Mfon Bassey, other supervisors, youths, women, elders, village heads and other party faithfuls.
